FAMILY VISION
-
In the Bible at the end of Matthew, Jesus is clear on what our Great Commission as Christ Followers is:
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” -Matthew 28: 19-20 NLT
We made this our church Family Vision and filter everything we do here through Becoming Disciples of Jesus, Making Disciples of Jesus.
FAMILY MISSION
-
Introducing is just another word for IMITATING. Our mission is to IMITATE JESUS in all aspects of our lives, therefore introducing others to God through the love of Jesus.
We strive to do this through God’s first 2 commandments outlined in the book of Matthew:
“Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.”- Matthew 22: 34-39 NLT
We do this all through LOVE. We love God and follow all He asks of us, we love people through imitating Jesus’ ways, and love ourselves by accepting the covering of sin Jesus gives us in our lives.
FAMILY STRATEGY
-
We utilize the acronym COST to define our Family Strategy, which refers to Connect, Obey, Share, and Train. It comes from Luke:
“But don’t begin until you count the cost…” -Luke 14L28 NLT
This is how we accomplish our Vision & Mission. Here are some examples of how we do this:
CONNECT- SUNDAY SERVICES
Sunday Services is one way we help you…
Connect with God.
Connect with Leadership.
Connect with Others.
Connect with Next Steps.
OBEY- GROUPS
Groups is one way we create accountability for obedience…
Obedience surfaces best in dialogue.
Obedience says “yes” prior to understanding.
Obedience seeks help from others.
Obedience sticks through accountability.
SHARE- SERVE TEAMS
Finding a team to serve on is one way to…
Share my time.
Share my talents.
Share my treasures.
Share the Good News of Jesus.
TRAIN- FAMILY VISION
This ties directly back into our Family Vision or Becoming Disciples of Jesus, Making Disciples of Jesus.
Leading my household.
Teaching my neighbors.
Equipping my city.
Going on mission.
FAMILY VALUES
-
Biblical- It all points to JESUS.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” -2 Timothy 3:16 NLT
Intentional- Everything has PURPOSE.
Relational- EVERYONE Matters.
Generational- PASSING on Hope.
FAMILY BELIEFS
-
Trinity- One God in Three Persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
“God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace.” -1 Peter 1:2 NLT
Bible- Inspired Word of God.
“Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.” -2 Peter 1:20-21 NLT
Salvation- Found Only in Jesus.
“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” -John 14:6 NLT
Eternity- People were created to exist Forever.
“Yes, we are fully confident, and we would rather be away from these earthly bodies, for then we will be at home with the Lord.” -2 Corinthians 5:8 NLT
FAMILY PRACTICES
-
Baptism- A full IMMERSION of Jesus.
“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.” -Romans 6:4 NLT
Communion- To REMIND and UNITE God’s Children.
“For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.” For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.” -1 Corinthians 11: 23-26 NLT
Giving- A posture of SACRIFICE.
“Bring this tithe to the designated place of worship—the place the Lord your God chooses for his name to be honored—and eat it there in his presence. This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. Doing this will teach you always to fear the Lord your God.” -Deuteronomy 14:23 NLT
Serving- IMITATING the life of Jesus.
“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” -1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT
